Active Adventures: Water & Wildlife
Whilst St. Pete, with its incredible beaches and other natural hotspots, is a hub for swimming and boating, we recommend you try something a little different and hop atop a paddleboard. Try SUP along the warm, clear waters of St. Pete Beach, or head to Fort de Soto, where you can close to the wild manatees there.
Weedon Island Preserve is 3,190-acre low-lying natural space, comprised of a number of different ecosystems. This includes a four-mile kayaking trail with mangrove tunnels, seagrass flats, and a great variety of wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for wading birds, colourful crabs, fish, and lizards.

Central Avenue is the place to go for retail therapy. Scout for antique souvenirs, peruse the coffee and juice shops, or stop for a bite to eat (there’s everything from vegan sushi, to BBQ, and world ice-cream). Try on vintage accessories, add to your vinyl collection, or check out the range of galleries in the Crislip Arcade.
Hop heads would be making a serious mistake in overlooking 3 Daughters Brewing – one of Florida’s fastest-growing local breweries. Make a pit-stop whilst in St. Petersburg and try some phenomenal craft beers, eclectic bar snacks (nachos, devilled eggs, poke and burgers), and live entertainment.
