We’ve put together a list of Disney-approved recipes released by the Mouse House to help die-hard fans worldwide to cope with their collective withdrawal symptoms. Disney’s Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich Recipe

To get this menu of unearthly delights off to a delicious start, we’ll begin with Toy Story Land’s classic grilled cheese sandwich. Whilst it’s not possible to mosey on down to Woody’s Lunch Box at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the park’s Food & Beverage Communications team have been kind enough to share step-by-step instructions for achieving your very own homemade version. We are both extremely grateful (cheese pun very much intended) and also terrified that this four-person serving of grilled cheese might not be a sharer after all.

Ingredients (serves four):

For the Cream Cheese Spread

  • 60g full fat cream cheese
  • 60g grated Double Gloucester or Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons double cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt

For the Garlic Spread

  • 230g mayonnaise
  • 1.5 teaspoons finely diced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt

For the Grilled Cheese Sandwich

  • 8 slices of good-quality bread
  • 8 slices of Cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Method:

It’s not rocket science, but the results are guaranteed to take your taste buds to infinity and beyond. Start by mixing all your cream cheese spread ingredients in a blender and setting aside. Next, stir together your garlic spread ingredients in a bowl and set aside.

Then, lay out your bread on a cutting board and place 2 pieces of Cheddar on half the bread slices and 2 pieces of provolone on the remaining bread slices. Distribute your cream cheese spread evenly over the slices with provolone on them, then press together with the Cheddar cheese side.

Brush both sides of the sandwich with your garlic spread, then heat a wide-based pan over a medium heat for a few minutes until hot. Now, grill your sandwiches for 2 minutes on each side until golden brown and oozing with cheese.

Top tip: This is definitely a tried and tested crowd-pleaser, but if you want to get a little adventurous, why not throw in a blue or chilli-spiked cheese instead of the Cheddar?

Disney’s Dole Whip Recipe

A long-standing staple on the Disney dessert menu, the soft serve Dole Whip is a fan favourite, bringing tropical tones to cups and cones in select outlets across Disneyland and Walt Disney World. This fruit-infused ice-cream can be found on its lonesome, or piped atop a cup of pineapple juice in its ‘float’ form. The best thing about this recipe? Apart from the fact the final product totally counts towards your five a day, there are only three ingredients for you to remember. We can’t quite believe it’s so simple! So here’s your ticket to pineapple-flavoured paradise.

Ingredients (serves one):

  • 1 generous scoop of vanilla ice cream
  • 120ml pineapple juice
  • 350g frozen pineapple chunks

Method:

This really couldn’t get any easier – simply blitz all three ingredients together in a blender until smooth. If you want extra marks, you can use a piping bag to get the authentic whip effect. Having said that, if you just want to whack on the Moana soundtrack, close your eyes and spoon the mixture directly into your mouth, we aren’t judging.

Top tip: Whilst you might struggle to find the rare outlets in Walt Disney World that will add a dash of rum to your Dole Whip float, there are zero restrictions if you’re looking for an adult twist at home.

Disney Parks Churro Bites Recipe

If you’ve managed to read this far down without drooling, a) we admire your resolve, and b) that is all about to change. Fried until golden, sparkling with sugar, and dipped in molten chocolate, churros are, for good reason, a super popular snack on the Disney dining scene. Whilst usually sold at the parks in full stick form, the kind people at the Disney Parks Blog have done the impossible and improved the recipe, chopping their churros into little bite-sized pieces of perfection. This is a great one to try at home as you should have most of the ingredients in stock already, plus we’ve heard calories don’t count on lockdown anyway.

Ingredients (serves four):

  • 240ml water
  • 8 tbsp butter
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 170g plain flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 375ml vegetable oil
  • 104g caster sugar
  • Dipping sauce (chocolate or other)

Method:

Mix together the butter, salt, ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon (of the ¾) and the water in a large saucepan over medium heat, bringing the mixture to a rolling boil before turning the heat down low. Next, tip in the flour and stir together quickly until the dough mixture forms a well-combined ball. At this point remove the pan from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before cracking the eggs and mixing in one at a time.

First, heat the oil in a saucepan pan over medium heat. Next, spoon the dough into a piping bag with a star-shaped nozzle. Squeeze an inch of dough over the pan and then cut it off so it drops into the hot oil. Keep repeating this process until your pan is filled with churros with a little room leftover for frying. When they are golden brown, remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

For your final flourish, mix the sugar and remaining half teaspoon of cinnamon in a bowl. Throw in the cooked churro bites until they are coated evenly with the sugar mixture. Serve with the dipping sauce of your choice.

Top tip: If you can’t make or buy a traditional chocolate dipping sauce, you can always tip a jar of nutella into a bowl and heat it gently in a microwave or, alternatively, use cream.
