Whilst of course there’s no place like home, social distancing and shelter-in-place measures have us feeling a little cooped up and stir crazy. When your home is also doubling up as an office, gym, pub, and school, you can’t help but wish the whole experience was a little more…like a holiday? We’ve asked the experts at Kenwood Travel where they’d base their headquarters given the choice and put together a list of lockdown locations you’d love. From an underwater suite in Dubai to a hill-hugging hideout in Vietnam, our quarantine dreams know no bounds. The question is, where would you rather be?

Stella Maris Ocean Villa at Waldorf Astoria Maldives

Amidst the uncertainty of our current climate, we could all use some deep relaxation, and deep relaxation happens to be a speciality of the Maldives. Who could blame us for wanting instant teleportation to the Stella Maris Ocean Villa at Waldorf Astoria Maldives? First off, just look at it: a gleaming, modern masterpiece with floor-to-ceiling windows sat in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The lower deck boasts its very own infinity pool, hot tub, overwater hammocks and direct ocean access. Meanwhile the upper floor (yes, it’s a duplex!) offers a chef’s service and BBQ station. We’re ready for that teleportation now.

Underwater Suite at Atlantis the Palm, Dubai

Offering each guest a totally unique experience, the Underwater Suite at Atlantis the Palm is sure to top the views from your window at home. We’re sure your garden is delightful, but it’s no match for a private panorama of the Ambassador Lagoon. Floor-to-ceiling windows give amazing insight into the creatures of Atlantis the Palm’s aquarium, including sharks, rays, and colourful reef-dwelling fish. Ocean lovers won’t need to touch the television with this dazzling, always-on display visible from your bed and marble Jacuzzi. If that isn’t enough of a departure from the everyday, what about a private elevator to your very own lounge, 24-hour butler service, or 24-hour room service? Count us in.

Savanna View Villa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Florida

We’d be lying if we said our lives weren’t lacking a little magic at the moment. It’s the kind of void that only a Disney and animal themed holiday could really fill. Whilst the parks are currently closed, there’s nothing stopping us fantasising about being there right now. A Savanna View Villa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is the ultimate animal-loving, Disney-dependent adventurer’s escape. This villa is all about the view from the balcony, which will instantly transport you to a scene from the Lion King. The entire resort overlooks a private 43-acre preserve populated with over 200 free-roaming animals and 130 birds. We could spend all day spotting our favourites.

Jade Mountain, St. Lucia

Anyone with Instagram who also happens to be suffering from Caribbean travel withdrawals will have seen that view. St. Lucia’s Piton Mountains are totally iconic and Jade Mountain offers a completely unobstructed panorama from each of its incredible ‘sanctuaries’. But it’s not just the view giving us serious lockdown location envy – the Galaxy Sanctuary at Jade Mountain is sprawling at 2000 square feet with a 900 square foot infinity pool. You won’t notice the lack of television, radio, or telephones in these peaceful suites as the fourth wall is completely open to the elements. Watching the waves beats daytime TV in our books any day. Besides, you can contact the service team on your personal communication device round the clock if you need anything.

Rock Villa at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam

Perched siren-like atop the coastal rock formations of Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam, Six Senses’ Rock Villas are an undeniably Bond-worthy hideout. With their independent hillside staircase access and secluded location on the Western end of the bay, these thatch-roofed beauties also gain top social-distancing marks. To be honest, the Rock Villa had us at ‘mini wine cellar’ but if you need to hear more, we also fell for the private plunge pool and freestanding wooden tub overlooking the water. Could we love lockdown here? Absolutely. Actually, we wouldn’t complain if this were our permanent home…

Exclusive Seafront Swan Villa at Elivi Skiathos

Exclusive by name, exclusive by nature, the Seafront Swan Villa at Elivi Skiathos offers the luxury of superb amenities and the space to enjoy them. Sleeping up to eight seriously lucky adults and two children, this is one for the social butterflies among us that would rather hunker down in sunny climes with loved ones around them. Four bedrooms, a 36m2 private pool, a capacious first-floor veranda, plus a family-sized kitchen and dining area tick all the boxes and then some for you and all the lockdown crew. Having said that, would it be such a bad thing to have all that space to yourself?

Frangipani Oceanfront Pool Villa Two Bedroom at The Residence Zanzibar

Anyone else craving an incredibly deluxe beach break, or is it just us? The Frangipani Oceanfront Pool Villa at the Residence Zanzibar is the perfect antidote to indoor-overload, with an easy, breezy aesthetic. Situated directly on the powdery soft sands of Zanzibar’s southwest coast, this upscale villa really brings the outside in. Enjoy the fresh sea air from your billowy four-poster, or open those french doors directly onto your patio with private pool and daybed. Throw in 24-hour in-villa dining plus a private butler service and this is a recipe for sheer relaxation whilst you wait out the storm: do as much or as little as you like with the ocean right on your doorstep.
