When our Indian Ocean holiday experts visited Victoria Beachcomber Resort in Mauritius, they were impressed with the hotel’s new adults only wing: Victoria for 2, and in particular its stunning new swim-up rooms. So much so, in fact, that we couldn’t resist adding a cheeky sixth recommendation to our list.
Behold one of the most beautiful new swim-up room categories on the Mauritius holiday scene. All clean-lined Scandi furniture and brushed wood flooring on the inside, the outside is a portal to luxury via direct swim-out access which connects guests to the resort’s 800 square-metre pool and buzzy swim-up bar, Nautil Café.
Louvered partition walls direct the interior layout and create a pleasing shadow effect in the midday sun. Large French doors bring the outside in, flooding this innovative living space with natural light. Step through the doors onto your spacious private balcony where you’ll find a cosy day bed and rustic-looking table and seating. There’s a shallow pool area with two semi-submerged sun-loungers (perfect to trail a hand in the water as you top up your tan) which in turn leads to the main swim-out area. Room to pool in seconds; just remember to kick off your flip flops.
