Discover Road Town
The vast majority of British Virgin Islands residents live and work in the capital - Road Town. Head here to see locals go about their day-to-day life and to see a few sights along the way. On Main Street, you’ll find a row of pastel-painted 18th century houses, plus the Old Government House, which has been converted into a small museum.
You’ll also be able to engage in a spot of retail therapy at the gift shops and boutiques that line the streets. Local crafts and artisanal wares are on display in brightly hued cabins alongside stalls positively sizzling with jerk chicken, roti with chutney, and grilled seafood.
Virgin Gorda Baths
The Baths on Virgin Gorda are not to be missed on your next holiday to the British Virgin Islands. A series of huge granite boulders, pools, and caves perched on a pristine beach on Virgin Gorda’s north shore, the Baths are a geological gem offering equal parts relaxation and exploration. Bask in the light of ‘the Cathedral’ - perhaps the crowning jewel in this national treasure - where a series of ropes and ladders can guide you on your adventure.
This protected area also includes Devil’s Bay, which you can reach by walking through until the end of the caves. This peaceful beach is popular for swimming and snorkelling, whilst the offshore dinghy dock prevents the bay from becoming too overcrowded.
Visit Guana Island
This rocky, 1.3 square mile is verdant with dense rainforest but also leaves its visitors spoiled for choice when it comes to beaches. White Bay Beach is an idyllic seaside paradise with powder-soft sand, an honesty bar and a small marina. The other six beaches on the island can be accessed via hiking trails or by boat.
Anyone who does go to discover the hinterland of the island on foot, will find an incredibly diverse ecosystem. Spot iguanas and lizards roaming freely around the vegetation, whilst rare and exotic bird species flock around.
