- Weather and climate can vary massively across the many biomes of the US, and across seasons. Depending on where you cruise and the areas you'll be visiting, you'll need to pack different weather-appropriate outfits.
- The USA is incredibly large, and comprises multiple time zones – particularly evident when cruising to the more distant US territories like Hawai'i or Puerto Rico. Make sure to keep this in mind when planning your cruise.
- Depending on time of year, some attractions and activities may or may not be available. Research your desired shore excursions in advance to help you decide when in the year to cruise. Be sure to book these in advance to avoid disappointment.
- In the US, you are expected to tip staff. Make sure to have cash on hand so that you can tip servers, guides, and other professionals during your cruise. Additionally, many places in the US will prefer cash payment to card payment; another good reason to keep cash on hand.

- The US drinking age is 21; cruisers younger than this will not be able to legally partake of alcoholic beverages.
Things to Do
- The Great Lakes of North America are a sight to behold, so vast that they have their own tides, with waves lapping at the shore very much alike the ocean. A voyage across these behemoth bodies of water is one of the greatest experiences available in a cruise to America, and well worth the trip.
- A broad ribbon of water that winds its way across the States, the Mississippi River has played a critical role in the course of American history and commerce, and continues to do so today. A cruise along this magnificent river will open your horizons to countless unforgettable ports along its length; an outstanding way to experience the USA.
- Consider taking an add-on holiday before or after your cruise. Ports in North America are the starting point of journeys to many incredible regions and destinations, such as Bermuda, the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, Hawaii and more – you'll be well-placed for a range of incredible voyages and land stays.
- Witness world-famous landmarks. From the Statue of Liberty in New York to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, many of the sights you'll have a chance to see on your cruise are utterly unmissable.
- Try delicious local foods. From the unique flavours and dishes of Hawaii to a good slice of New York cheesecake, there's plenty of delightful culinary experiences to have during your America cruise holiday.
