Anse Source d’Argent
Perhaps one of the most photographed beaches on the planet (and quite rightly so), Anse Source d’Argent can be found on La Digue. Blindingly white sand meets shallow, turquoise waters, studded with distinctive granite boulders and framed by palm trees. During the day there are transparent kayaks for rent and stalls selling cold drinks, fruit, and jewellery.
The beach is public, but as you have to go through a National Park to access it, there is a small on entry. Arriving early in the morning and returning later in the day is a good way to avoid the main bulk of the crowds. In doing this, you also get to experience the beach as tide, lighting and weather conditions change throughout the day.
Eat at Marie Antoinette
Marie Antoinette, based in St Louis, is arguably the most famous restaurant in the Seychelles, in 2011 even reaching national monument status. Set in a building well over 100 years old and with a menu that hasn’t changed since its opening in 1972, this is the perfect place to get your fill of Seychellois comfort food with a side of island heritage.

Walk in the Vallée de Mai
Have you ever walked in a ‘primeval’ forest? Well, this is your chance. Head to the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve on Praslin, which can call itself a natural, ‘primeval’ forest thanks to its 4,000 coco de mer palm trees, which are native to the Seychelles. This famous palm species, once believed to grow in the sea, is the largest seed in the plant kingdom. This forest is also home to five other endemic palm trees and plenty of animals native to the Seychelles. Go on a hike through this remarkable terrain and keep an eye out for bronze geckos, endemic blue pigeons, Seychelles skinks, and tiger chameleons.
