Singita Ebony Lodge

5* out of 5 stars

Welcome to big cat country - your adventure awaits. Adjacent to Kruger National Park, Singita Sabi Sand is a 45,000-acre game park in the Sabi Reserve, famous for its leopard sightings. Here, on the banks of Sand River, you’ll find Singita Ebony Lodge.

Elegantly rustic, the lodge displays both European heritage and bold African design in its rural aesthetic. It’s fine furnishings, plush fabrics and traditional décor all adding to the comfort enjoyed by weary explorers passing through the doors.

Two of the 12 private suites are family orientated and all feature indoor / outdoor shower, en suite, personal plunge pool (heated) and a generous game-view decking. The wildlife you can expect to see from this vantage point include elephants, cheetahs, lions, leopards, rhino, reedbucks and herds of buffalo. Watch breathtaking natural scenes unfold.

Moving away from the adventurous for a moment, this fantastic property has all you need to totally unwind. A swimming pool, gym and spa keep your leisure time in check and there’s a TV and library in the main lodge. Relax even further, safe in the knowledge that a babysitting service gives you time to yourself, and the family-friendly credentials continue with archery, wildlife shows, cookery and school visits organised for the kids. From the lodge's impressive cellars and premier wine boutique, connoisseurs have the delight of sampling some of the country's best reserves and auction wines.

The fantastic rates here include breakfast, lunch and dinner plus all drinks (excluding French champagne); Land Rover safaris; mountain biking; guided bush walks; laundry and valet services, and return airstrip transfers.

Lewis Suite

Singita Ebony Lodge comprises 2 Lewis suites, each with its own private plunge pool. Interiors feature curated still-life collections of antiques and artefacts, as well as vintage campaign furniture from the Bailes’ family collection.

Materials like wood, iron, steel and aged bronze hark back to the 19th century, along with oversized sepia photography, glamorous leopard and zebra print upholstery that complements bold graphic tribal patterned murals. Internal and external walls have been replaced by canvas and glass to create safari tent-style suites to maximise views and space.

The entire front wall of each suite between the bedroom and the veranda is made of glass allowing light to flood in. Outdoor pavilion decks – ideal for dining and relaxing – are suspended above the river banks as if hanging from the trees. A beautiful marble and cast iron table is the furniture centrepiece for this concept – it is a traveller’s desk with smart tools, a private dining room table for entertaining or a bar to enjoy an evening gin & tonic in one.
