Oude Werf Hotel

5* out of 5 stars

Oude Werf Hotel stands proudly as the oldest hotel in South Africa, and has been setting the nation’s hospitality standards since 1802. South Africa is famous for its coastal scenery, cosmopolitan urban centres and bountiful wine regions. At Oude Werf guests find themselves at the heart of the glorious Cape Winelands while being just 50 km from Cape Town and 25 km from the coast. Opportunities to so easily experience the best of the country’s much-loved landscape don’t come much better.

Your exact location is Stellenbosch – a historic university town noted for its vibrant atmosphere and traditional values. These are evident in the Georgian design sensibilities adhered to in the hotel’s décor and furnishings which, in combination with contemporary comforts, create a graceful style. The hotel is located on Church Street in the heart of Stellenbosch and surrounded by cafes, restaurants and curio shops, the perfect environment to unwind and recharge before exploring the region’s walking tours, wine routes and golf courses. Complimentary valet parking is available for those wishing to self-drive.

The hotel offers a range of traditional and contemporary style rooms, offering something to suit every taste, and the individualised design means no two of the rooms are the same. The hotel restaurant offers traditional South African fare with a contemporary twist, using fresh local produce and the attentive staff are of course able to recommend the perfect wine to compliment every dish. By the swimming pool or sitting among the courtyard garden (overlooking the pool) makes a lovely setting in the evening for your pre-dinner cocktail and the traditional style lounge is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a nightcap before bed.

The Bistro

Oude Werf Hotel is one of Stellenbosch’s oldest - yet newest - landmarks for food lovers. The original 1802 restaurant was an Eikestad favourite. Today, the beautifully redesigned ‘modern-meets-vintage’ bistro, named Liefde (‘love’, in Afrikaans) still preserves essential traditions: homely, Cape classics prepared with love and a contemporary twist, and perfectly wine-paired.
