Timber Cove Resort

4* out of 5 stars

Discover an oasis of coastal charm on the Sonoma Coast, where giant redwood trees form an epic backdrop while the Pacific stretches out to the horizon. The idea here is to allow guests to forge a connection with this woodland and ocean landscape, and at the same time kicking back in a relaxing, curated space. Shabby chic, modern rustic; however you describe Timber Cove, one thing is for sure; this is an enviable HQ for a quintessential Sonoma holiday.

The best holidays in North California’s famous wine region of Sonoma County combine culture, adventure and luxury, and Timber Cove effortlessly achieves this balancing act. Book a local winery tour (there are over 425 award-winning wineries in the region) or coastal walk, wake up to healthy & hearty breakfasts at Coast Kitchen, and even admire world-renowned artist Beniamino Bufano’s 93 foot-tall obelisk, ‘The Expanding Universe’ onsite. Interiors and fittings at Timber Cove extend this authentic look & feel; look no further than your in-room Crosley record player and classic vinyl collection. At Timber Cove, the weekend starts early too, with 10% off bookings arriving on Thursdays.

The History or Timber Cove Resort

Dating back to the early 60s, the building was noted for the architectural innovation of designer Richard Clements Jr, and originally housed a meditation retreat. Having enjoyed a smart new refit in 2016, this iconic Sonoma hotel has restored its artistic and creative heart while ushering in a new era of comfort and luxury. The structure has been bestowed with redwood and stone materials that provide a dialogue with its immediate surroundings, echoing the timeless sense of peace and tranquillity inherent to the area.

There are only 49 rooms, so the atmosphere is always intimate and laid-back. Our top tip? Book a private meal with wine pairings in Coast Commune, Timber Cove’s exclusive dining room, before watching the Pacific sun set from the circular fire pit. Unmissable, unforgettable.
