In a spectacularly modern interpretation of traditional Moroccan design, Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa is a refreshing take on the luxury seafront resort. A cacophony of colours bring to life the neat, sharp-edged architecture of the resort. The infinity pool which comprises its centrepiece is lined with regional lanterns and is absolutely stunning, and the milieu of eucalyptus and mimosa-lined wild beach is as calm as it is beautiful. Inside the design by interior architect Didier Gomez is equally striking, as bold and unexpected colour and texture combinations make for one of the most original interiors around. French modern elegance meets classic local design, and this continues into Sofitel’s sumptuous rooms and suites.
Recreationally, Sofitel Essaouira is second to none. First and foremost the hotel features its own 18-hole championship golf course, designed by Gary Player. The on-site So SPA is an oasis of calm and rejuvenation, its design once again simply breathtaking in its originality. Guests may hire bikes to explore this amazing city, hire boats or kayaks to take onto the waves, or try windsurfing, for which the area is famous. Lastly as night falls, retire to Sofitel’s impressive array of restaurants and bars, which take inspiration from French-Moroccan fusion to barbecue.
