Shamwari Private Game Reserve - Bayethe is a luxurious tented paradise enclosed by flourishing tropical wildlife and overlooking a watering hole, ensuring an air of intimacy surrounds this tucked-away paradise.

The accommodation's setting - Shamwari Private Game Reserve - is the original Eastern Cape game reserve, and one of the area's largest, comprising just under 30,000 hectares of malaria-free landscape. Shamwari’s main aim is to protect a vanishing way of life, and this focus on conservation means the reserve is teaming with flora & fauna, including Big 5 game.

Guests have the chance to explore the reserve on morning and evening game drives with their expert ranger, and can also explore on foot with a game walk, or go on a night safari to try and find nocturnal creatures such as hyenas & porcupines. Guests also get to visit rescued big cats at the reserve’s Born Free sanctuary, as well as visiting the Animal Rehabilitation Centre and two Born Free sanctuaries.

All 12 detached tents are hidden away from each other to create a secluded, private space, and can sleep up to two adults per tent. All tents have their own private deck, plunge pool, indoor bath and outdoor shower, and the three Superior Tents also have an open fireplace, TV and a hammock on the outdoor deck.

Lodge guests have access to a lounge area with TV, outdoor swimming pool and indoor & outdoor dining facilities. The lodge also has spa in the form of the Bush Relaxation Retreat and complimentary wifi which is accessible from the main building.
