AE Expeditions

AE Expeditions is perfect for guests who want to sail the Polar regions but aren’t too fussed about having caviar among the penguins. This is a cruise line for those who want to see the Arctic or Antarctica on an ultra-modern ship and, and want to spend as much time in those destinations as possible whether by zodiac, kayak or on skis.

Five facts about AE Expeditions 

• Both of AE Expeditions’ ships have the Ulstein X-Bow that gives both ships their distinctive “beak”. It allows them to cut through rough waters, maintaining a higher speed through bodies of water like the Drake’s Passage. 
• Guests can choose one of AE Expeditions special activity programmes for an even more unique experience, including kayaking, diving, climbing and ski touring. *additional costs apply, must be prebooked.
• The ships have a maximum of 132 guests so everyone can join each excursion.
• The Greg Mortimer has two hydraulic viewing platforms which fold out over the ice, offering totally unobstructed, and unique, views. Whilst the Sylvia earle has a huge glass atrium.
• There is a sauna onboard and two jacuzzis that look out over the water. The perfect place to warm up after taking the polar plunge. 

Who is an AE Expedition for? 

An AE Expedition is for modern day explorers. The ships are fitted with everything guests need to either enjoy the ice or spot the incredible wildlife from up on deck. There is a huge team of experts onboard who are on hand to impart their knowledge to guests, either in scheduled lectures or at dinner (the experts eat with guests and disperse themselves around the restaurant). There are no airs or graces onboard and very little by way of formality. 

Where can you sail to with AE Expeditions? 

The ships are in Antarctica during our winter (November through to March) and Arctic in the summer (May to September). In-between those seasons the ships are generally making their way from one Pole to another but there is always the chance to see a destination, like Costa Rica, for example, on an expedition ship, offering a unique a tropical expedition cruise.
