Renowned for being one of the cruise industry’s greatest innovators, Celebrity Cruises is the perfect cruise line for those who love big ship facilities but want a more discerning crowd. The company’s latest ships - known as the Edge-class - have cemented its reputation as one of the most forward-thinking cruise lines in the world. The ships have cabins and suites designed by British designer Kelly Hoppen who is known for her clean lines and natural tones. In the public areas there are a number of never-before-seen features, like the Magic Carpet, an external platform that acts as an outdoor bar space (with incredible views of the ocean) and Eden, 11,800 square feet of ever-changing events space that looks out on the ever-changing ocean.
Five facts about Celebrity Cruises
- Celebrity Cruises has 15 ships in its fleet (and 16 if you count Celebrity Ascent).
- Celebrity Beyond is the largest ship in the Celebrity Cruises fleet, capable of accommodating 3,260 guests.
- Guests travelling with Celebrity Cruises can choose to add “Always Included” to their fare and include drinks, tips and wifi.
- Travellers can visit six continents with Celebrity Cruises as well as a “sail by” in Antarctica.
- Celebrity Cruises has three ships in the Galapagos. Celebrity Xpedition, Celebrity Xploration and Celebrity Flora. The latter of which is custom-built for the Galapagos Islands and includes a research station onboard.
Who is a Celebrity Cruise for?
One of the benefits of having so many facilities onboard is that a Celebrity Cruises holiday appeals to everyone. There are kids’ clubs for families, casinos for card sharks and romantic hideaways for couples.
Really, what sets Celebrity Cruises apart is the modern luxury ethos that it specialises in. This is a large, resort-style cruise line but one that is more luxurious than its mass-market competitors. So, expect a far greater choice when sailing. Just look at Celebrity Apex, one of the company’s newest ships – there are 29 restaurants, bars and lounges onboard. Almost every stateroom – 99% of them across the whole ship – comes with a king sized bed.
If you want to live the high life on board, then book a suite. You’ll get access to The Retreat – Celebrity’s ship within a ship concept – where you’ll have access to exclusive restaurants and lounges.
Where can you sail to with Celebrity Cruises?
You can sail pretty much anywhere with Celebrity Cruises. They’ve got ships based in the UK, Northern Europe, the Mediterranean and further afield. There’s a small fleet dedicated solely to cruising the Galapagos Islands while guests can even sail to Antarctica (although you won’t be able to walk on the Antarctic ice. There are also cruises in the North America, the Caribbean, South America, Asia and Australia. You name it, and there’s a good chance that Celebrity Cruises sail there.
