Silversea Worldwide Voyages 2024
This is one of world’s most upmarket cruise brands, among the clutch of lines referred to as “six star” due to the unalloyed luxury they offer. Its ships sail to more than 900 destinations on all seven continents, which it claims is more than anyone else. This is largely down to the size of Silversea’s 11-strong fleet, including expedition ships that have been built to withstand the extreme conditions of the Polar regions.
They all share the stylish designs and feeling of space that come from the range of different suites, all with ocean views, and served by their own butlers who add all-important extra special touches. Whether you want breakfast served on your suite balcony, clothes neatly unpacked and folded away or reservations made for your favourite ship restaurants, your butler in on hand to help.
Wining and dining in style is an integral part of the Silversea experience with international cuisine served in its main restaurants, while an array of speciality venues include Italian flavours Il Terrazzino and La Terrazza, Asian in Indochine and Seishin, and French in La Dame.
Guests can choose to be pampered in the on-board fitness and wellness centres, offering a full range of health and beauty therapies, though the feeling of opulence is heightened by Silversea’s Otium wellness programme. Inspired by the philosophy of the Ancient Romans, which plays to the line’s Italian roots, this extends from the spa to encompass other luxurious flourishes in sleep, cuisine and bathing.
Five facts about Silversea
- Personalised service from your own butlers and virtually one crew member per guest, which means staff get to know guests by name and even anticipate their drinks as they walk into the bar.
- Small ships that accommodate passengers in hundreds rather than thousands with the smallest number being on Silver Endeavour, which holds around 200 guests to the largest currently being Silver Spirit at 608, though this will change when Silver Nova joins the fleet.
- All-inclusive service means gourmet dining, drinks and gratuities are included, along with a daily shore excursion. Silversea’s port-to-port prices cover all this while its door-to-door prices also include airport home to airport transfers and flights.
- Exciting itineraries thanks to the relatively small size of Silversea ships, which means they can reach ports off-limits to larger vessels. Its five expeditionary ships sail off the beaten track to Antarctica and the Arctic and one of its ships, Silver Origin, is based in the Galapagos Islands year-round.
- Dining flavours are enhanced thanks to S.A.L.T., which means Sea And Land Taste. This is offered on a handful of Silversea ships, comprising bespoke culinary experiences with regional specialities served in its S.A.L.T. Kitchen and complemented by foodie-focused tours ashore.
