In the cosmopolitan bustle of Galle, bars and eateries are plentiful of course, but few have the casual yet classy atmosphere or the incredible cuisine of the Anchor Bar and Grill. Ideally located, it overlooks the pool on one side and the vast Indian Ocean on the other. Comfy seats face both the pool and the ocean so you can pick your spot of choice, but do take a minute to admire the life-size anchor against the wall; an authentic artefact from a maritime past.
The mood is light and relaxed – so is the fare. The snack menu is as wide as the sea views with a range of sandwiches, burgers, grills and more to tempt you and many special health options too. The kids of course have their own menu to fight over. The beverages on offer will spoil you for choice – heady mixes of all kinds with the best of cocktails, mocktails and smoothies to keep you company even until the pool closes for the day.

Named after its unique decor – an exquisite ceiling decorated with antique flags bearing the coat of arms from both Sri Lankan and British origin, it has an elegant old world charm that adds to the warm, welcoming atmosphere.
