Song Saa Private Island

5* out of 5 stars

Nestled within a seascape of jewel-like islands in the Gulf of Thailand’s crystal turquoise waters is the private island of Song Saa, where an unforgettable holiday in personal paradise awaits. Many islands in this – the Koh Rong Archipelago – remain untouched, and you could be amongst the first foreigners to grace their shores.

Song Saa Private Island is a secluded, romantic and lavish resort hidden within lush and stunning scenery that will take your breath away. Spanning across two islands – Koh Ouen and Koh Bong – this unique and spectacular six-star resort is connected by a footbridge that crosses a marine reserve to safeguard the island's aquatic life. Indeed, conservation plays a major role in the ethos and philosophy here: supporting local communities and measures to protect fish stock being just two examples of the extensive work carried out. There are 27 eco-friendly villas to choose from, some over the water, some hidden within the gorgeous tropical hillsides that overlook the ocean. This is heavenly, uninterrupted bliss with a keen eye on environmental considerations.

The resort proudly features a world class spa for the ultimate in pampering using specialist techniques and therapies. Bespoke wellness treatments encorporate herbs and iron-rich stones native to the island, and take place in private rooms located tanalisingly on the cusp of the ocean's edge or within the island's rainforest.

Alternatively explore the islands at your own pace or get involved with diving the nearby dive-sites accessed by a tranquil boat ride. After treating the body and mind, the attention turns to cuisine. Executive chef Joel Wilkinson fuses traditional Cambodian cuisine with Western techniques in fine dining making for a culinary journey that is out of this world.

Here in this exclusive and romantic setting can one indulge also the perfect wedding or honeymoon package, on the beach or in the comfort of your beautiful retreat.

As an all-inclusive resort, Song Saa provides the ultimate hospitality that caters to your every need. The 'Always Included' mantra extends to all food, beverages and guest experiences, meaning peace of mind all round and a care-free feeling. If you'd prefer as an alternative there is also a Bed & Breakfast option.

Access the islands via a 35 to 40-minute speed boat ride from Sihanoukville on the mainland.

Food & Drink

Driftwood Bar

Located next to the beach, the Driftwood Bar has a more relaxed and rustic feel and offers a more casual menu such as tapas and pizzas prepared in a wood-fired oven. It is also the perfect spot for a cold beer or a chilled glass of wine. The bar can also be made available for private dinners, and one of the chefs is always available to discuss menu options.

Vista Restaurant

In keeping with Song Saa’s ethos of luxury that treads lightly, executive chef Joel Wilkinson is developing a unique style of food that draws its inspiration directly from the surrounding environment.

It will make use of sustainably produced local ingredients wherever possible, celebrating the natural gifts of the islands in a delicate fusion of traditional Khmer cuisine and western influences.

But most excitingly, Song Saa’s menus will draw their inspiration from the chosen site of your dining experience. In a unique concept, they will tailor food and beverage offerings to match the various charms of each location on the island.

The unique overwater restaurant will feature contemporary Cambodian cuisine. In Villa experiences will draw upon more traditional and homely Khmer dishes. Location dining on fishing boats, on the beach or at our beach bar will have a relaxed and rustic feel.

No matter where you choose to dine on Song Saa Private Island, each food experience will be crafted with the finest and freshest ingredients to enhance the beauty of your environment.

Even the carefully constructed list of cocktails, wines and beers will reflect where you are on the island and further enhance the seductive experience of this private hideaway.

A fine balance. The typical Cambodian meal consists of at least three or four separate dishes capturing a palette of sweet, sour, salty and bitter flavours. Chili is usually left up to the individual to add themselves. The hotel wants to expand on this concept and introduce a balance of traditional with new.

Creating its own sea SALT, smoking its own fish with a unique SCENT, using RAW essential ingredients found around the islands, offering HEAT in the form of chili and other spices grown in an organic garden, and of course finishing each meal with something SWEET.

Dining at Song Saa Private Island will reflect the harmony and balance one aims to reach in all things in this special part of the world.a
