Luxury Croatia Holidays

An Adriatic pearl, glittering with life

Coastlines roll for mile upon mile along the ever-blue Adriatic, interrupted occasionally by the odd luxury hotel, of course. The Dinaric Alps make their mark inland, where crumbling castles, perched high in the hills, still survey the landscape. For more history, medieval Zagreb, particularly Upper Town, is a living museum.

Croatia is found at the crossroads of Central Europe, Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean. Its location makes it one of the continent's most culturally diverse nations with endless possibilities for exploration. Don't let Croatia's young age fool you. Despite declaring independence as recently as 1991 Croatia has a rich regional history that is a delight to discover. Don't overlook this Balkan beauty, scratch beneath the surface and uncover a land of bustling cities, breathtaking scenery and some of the finest luxury hotels in Europe.

Luxury holidays in Croatia

The beauty of luxury holidays to Croatia lies in their flexibility. From the secluded bays dotted up and down the coast to the bustling centre of Dubrovnik, Croatia can satisfy even the most discerning traveller's needs. However you wish to spend your time here, Kenwood Travel has hand-picked the very best resorts so you can make the most of your holiday to Croatia.

Great reasons to holiday in Croatia

  • The food – Every region has its own distinct culinary traditions; Dalmatian cuisine for example consists of cured meats and pasta dishes that have been influenced by Italy. No matter where you are you will always be able to find goulash, a stew-like dish that is often made with deer or boar and boldly seasoned with paprika.
  • The coast – Croatia has a deceptively long coastline measuring 5,835 km. As previously mentioned the country has 116 Blue Flag beaches which equates to around two per 100km of coast. In short, you'll never be far from a world class beach.
  • The architecture – Croatia has gone to great lengths to maintain its historic buildings. The Medieval churches for instance still display outstanding examples of Gothic sculpture and the country is famous for its huge amount of buildings left over from the Roman period.
  • The fashion – Brightly coloured headscarves are one of Croatia's defining features. And did you know this is where the cravat was invented?

Things to do whilst on holiday in Croatia

Walk the city walls of Dubrovnik. Rise above the rooftops of the Medieval churches and red-tiled houses to get a unique glimpse of the city. Parts of the wall are built on the cliff side meaning you can enjoy views across the Adriatic Sea.

Wine fans can experience a whole new style in Croatia. There are hundreds of locally produced vintages to sample, including Teran wine made from grapes grown in the iron-rich soils of Istria.

Drive down the Adriatic Highway and stop off at charming towns built on the cliffs. The highway also is the best way to access many of Croatia's picturesque bays.

Visit the famous Roman ruins in towns such as Split and Pula. The entire city centre of Split was once Diocletin's Palace, a huge fortress that served as both a royal residence and a military garrison.

Weather in Croatia

Croatia for the most part has a moderately warm climate that becomes more Mediterranean towards the Adriatic Sea. Even during the Summer months, the coast stays a pleasant temperature due to the regulatory effects of the sea.
