Full Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Hanoi / Arrival

    Arrive in Hanoi and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is spent at your leisure. Overnight stay in Hanoi.

  • Day 2

    Hanoi

    Embark on a day tour to explore Hanoi’s fascinating heritage and history. First, witness the marble edifice surrounding the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum (Please note: closed Mondays & Fridays) before experiencing the wooden stilt house and the One Pillar Pagoda. Then explore Vietnam’s first university, the Temple of Literature, rich in the profound teachings of Confucianism. In the afternoon you’ll visit Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple. Next, a one-hour tour of Hanoi’s Old Quarter showcases ancient Hanoi and its traditional Vietnamese architecture. The tour also takes in an ancient Vietnamese ‘long house’. Overnight stay in Hanoi.

  • Day 3

    Hanoi / Ha Long Bay

    Wend your way through authentic rice paddy fields en route to Ha Long Bay. Board a junk boat for a cruise exploring hundreds of islets around the bay. Enjoy a seafood lunch and swim (weather permitting). In the late evening, drop anchor for an overnight stay amid the dramatic limestone cliffs that emerge from the sea. Overnight stay on a junk boat.

  • Day 4

    Ha Long Bay / Boat Cruise / Hanoi / Hue

    Spend the morning sailing through the limestone karsts and emerald waters of Ha Long Bay before heading back to the wharf. Transfer to Noi Bai Airport for the flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Transfer to your hotel upon arrival. Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh City.

  • Day 5

    Hue

    Take a morning boat ride on the tranquil Perfume River as far as the Thien Mu Pagoda before travelling via car to the poetic Emperor Tu Duc mausoleum. In the afternoon, continue to the Imperial Citadel and Dong Ba Market. The spectacular Citadel comprises a range of palaces, ornate halls, libraries, residences and schools. Overnight accommodation in Hue.

  • Day 6

    Hue / Da Nang / Hoi An

    Follow the coast by way of mountain passes to Hoi An with a photo stop at the pretty village of Lang Co Beach along the way. Visit the Cham Museum in Da Nang, home to the world’s finest collection of Cham artworks, then proceed to Hoi An. The rest of the day will be at leisure to explore the town. Overnight accommodation in Hoi An.

  • Day 7

    Hoi An

    Look around one of Hoi An’s famous lantern workshops and learn the skills to make your own before setting out on a walking tour of this World Heritage Site. Highlights include an ancient merchant house, the Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the colourful riverside market. Take a peaceful boat ride up the Thu Bon River and then take some free time to explore the old town a little further. Overnight stay in Hoi An.

  • Day 8

    Hoi An / Da Nang / Ho Chi Minh City

    Depart for Da Nang to take a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival here you will be transferred to your hotel; the rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City.

  • Day 9

    Ho Chi Minh City / Cu Chi Tunnels

    In the morning visit the atmospheric Cu Chi Tunnels where Vietnamese guerrillas laid a network of narrow hideout tunnels during the war. Back at Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon for a half-day tour of the city. Highlights are the Reunification Palace, the Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Chinatown, Binh Tay Market and either the Thien Hau Temple or the Quan Am Pagoda. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

  • Day 10

    Ho Chi Minh City / Ben Tre / Boat Cruise

    Venture to the Mekong Delta. After arriving in My Tho, take a riverboat cruise. Experience a traditional horse-drawn cart ride to a local house for tea and home grown fruits. Next, board a sampan and drift leisurely along the tree-lined canals of the Delta. After lunch, tour a local coconut candy business before your return to My Tho. If time permits, there will be a visit to the Vinh Trang Pagoda during the return to Ho Chi Minh City. Arrive back in Ho Chi Minh City by the late afternoon. Overnight stay in Ho Chi Minh City.

  • Day 11

    Ho Chi Minh City

    Departure

    Free time until transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport for your departure.
