Full Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Phnom Penh / Arrival / City Tour / One-hour Foot or Khmer massage

    Upon your arrival in Phnom Penh, transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, visit some of the capital’ best sites such as the National Museum, the Silver Pagoda which contains the Emerald Buddha statue, the Royal Palace and Wat Phnom, the oldest shrine in Phnom Penh. The day ends with an hour foot massage or traditional Khmer massage at the spa. Massage is a time-honoured tradition across Southeast Asia, and Cambodia offers its own unique styles to assist health and relaxation. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

  • Day 2

    Phnom Penh / Toul Sleng Museum / Killing Fields / Home hosted dinner with local family

     

    Visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the notorious Khmer Rouge Killing Fields in the morning. Please note this may not be suitable for all visitors as the exhibits are graphic. On the way back, stop at the PSE (Pour Un Sourire d’Enfant), which provides support for underprivileged children living in Cambodia. This programme has provided thousands of kids living in and around the streets of the Stung Meanchey dump in Phnom Penh with food, care, accommodation and education. Lunch (not included) taken at Le Lotus Blanc, the centre’s training restaurant, where you can support the training of these youngsters as their guest before enjoying a sightseeing tour. In the evening, visit a local family for a home-cooked dinner. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

  • Day 3

    Phnom Penh / Siem Reap / Angkor Complex

     

    After an early rise, have breakfast before transferring to the airport for your Siem Reap flight. After checking in to your new hotel, access Angkor Thom from the Southern Gate and discover the ancient city. Proceed next to the Bayon ruins, Baphoun, Phimeanakas, Royal Palace, Elephant Terrace and the Leper King Terrace. Visit the magnificent Angkor Wat complex in the afternoon. Explore its amazing architecture and watch the sun set over the spectacular monuments.

  • Day 4

    Siem Reap / Banteay Srei / Banteay Samre / Taphrom

     

    Following breakfast you’ll be driven to visit the peaceful 11th-century Temple of Shiva – Banteay Srei – and the Banteay Samre Temple. On the way back, visit the jungle-shrouded Ta Prohm Temple. Next, travel through the countryside to a Silk Farm at Pourk where silk making from start to finish is revealed. Afterwards, check out Artisans d’Angkor, where uneducated rural kids learn traditional crafts and skills. Ancient techniques are still in practice here, including wood carving, stone sculpting, lacquering, gilding and silk painting. Overnight in Siem Reap.

  • Day 5

    Siem Reap / Yangon

     

    Enjoy time at leisure until airport transfer for departure flight. Transfer to next hotel on arrival. Overnight in Yangon

  • Day 6

    Yangon

     

    The morning may be enjoyed at your own leisure. In the afternoon become orientated with downtown Yangon before visit to Chaukhtatkyi Reclining Buddha and Karaweik Royal Barge on the Kandawgyi Royal Lake. The day finishes with a visit to the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda. Overnight in Yangon

  • Day 7

    Yangon / Bagan

     

    Early morning flight to Bagan following transfer the airport. On arrival, tour Bagan including the vibrant Nyaung Oo Market, Shwezigon Pagoda, Wetkyi-in Gubyaukkyi (cave temple with intricate jatakas murals), the elegant Htilominlo Temple (don’t miss the plaster carvings) and the Tharaba Gate. Bagan tour continues in the afternoon with visits to Ananda (an architectural masterpiece of early temple design), Ananda Okkyaung (one of the few brick monasteries from the early Bagan period to survive), Thatbyinnyu Temple (the highest in Bagan at 61m) and Dhammayangyi Temple (remarkable brickwork). Look forward to a glorious sunset view at one of the famous temples. Overnight in Bagan.

  • Day 8

    Bagan

     

    After a hotel breakfast, head to Myinkaba village and witness classic lacquerware making, one of the best-known of the traditional Myanmar handicrafts, and a specialism of Bagan. Next look around Myinkaba Gubyaukkyi (a Hindu-inspired early Pyu-style temple). After this, tour the Manuha and Nanpaya temples. In the afternoon, take an countryside excursion to Minnanthu village. See the temples if time permits, including Payathonzu, Lemyethnar, Sinbyushin, Nandaminnya & Minnanthu monastery. Watch the sun set over the Ayeyarwaddy River at Bupaya. Overnight in Bagan.

  • Day 9

    Bagan / Mandalay / Amarapura / U Bein Bridge

     

    Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring to the airport for the Mandalay flight. On route to the city, visit Maha Gdayone monastery (home to over 1000 monks) in Amarapura and the Mahamuni Pagoda (complete with cold leaf Buddha statue). Sightseeing in the afternoon takes in the Shwenandaw Monastery (beautiful woodcarvings) and the ‘the world’s biggest book’ – Kuthodaw Pagoda’s 700+ marble slabs of Buddhist texts. Admire the sunset from U Bein Bridge (at 1,208 meters, the longest teakwood bridge in the world) or from the Mandalay Hill with panoramic city views. During your time in Mandalay, call in at the local artisan workshops where bronze casting, gold leaf, wood & marble carving take place. Overnight in Mandalay.

  • Day 10

    Mandalay / Yangon

     

    Transfer to Mandalay Airport for the flight to Yangon in the morning. Transfer to hotel. Enjoy an afternoon shopping trip to Bogyok Aung San (Scott) Market, the most bustling bazaar in the city. After this, visit the Botataung Pagoda and Chinatown followed by the fruit market. Overnight in Yangon.
