The 14-unit Amakhala Hlosi Game Lodge comprises four double suites, four family tents, four luxury tents, and two two-roomed family suites. Set upon a gentle hillside overlooking a river plain, with sweeping views from private decks, they couldn’t be better positioned to showcase the scenic splendour of South Africa, and provide a comfortable HQ from which to embark on your safari adventures. Onsite you’ll also find a main lodge with smart dining and lounge venues, swimming pool, waterhole, and a vibrant bar for those evening sundowners.
Things to do at Amakhala Hlosi Game Lodge
In winter time, cosy up and exchange safari stories by the two-sided fireplace in the main lodge’s impressive ‘rondavel’ (round room). In the summer months, step out onto the shaded verandah where the inviting swimming pool below tempts those keen to cool off in the sun. Adjacent to the main lodge is a separate venue called a ‘boma’ which hosts bush braais (evening meal and game drive with barbecue) and firelight festivities. Aside from safaris on the game reserve at the lodge and enjoying the atmosphere and facilities onsite, the local area also reveals some notable places of interest. Historic settler city Grahamstown and ‘friendly city’ Port Elizabeth are nearby, and you can discover animals of the past on a paleontology excursion less than a mile away at the Krantz Formations.

Luxury Suite
This suite is open plan, with a lounge and either a king size bed or two twins. Leading off from the suite is a bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower, a bath and a separate WC. Your private deck is there for your game viewing pleasure, or a refreshing sundowner before dinner is served.
Luxury Safari Tent
These large luxury safari tents are one bedroom and have all the modern conveniences, including full en-suite bathrooms, air conditioners, electric blankets and a minibar. It also offers an open-plan lounge and viewing decks over-looking the African bush.
Family Suite
The Family Suite has two bedrooms both en-suite, with a family lounge separating them with doors opening up onto a beautiful deck. The main suite has a king size bed with both an indoor and outdoor shower as well as a deep-soaking tub. The second bedroom has twin beds with a bath and indoor shower.
Luxury Family Safari Tent
The Luxury Family Safari Tent has two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a king size bed while the second has twin beds. A full en-suite bathroom joins the rooms. The tent is built on a raised wooden platform with three viewing decks offering an 180 degree viewing experience.
