Tanjong Jara Resort
Fronting a golden sandy beach, lapped by gleaming turquoise of the South China Sea, Tanjong Jara Resort is the perfect Far Eastern getaway. Inspired by 17th-century Malay palaces, the resort’s 100 guest rooms are a serene collection of elegantly crafted wooden buildings but it is the genuine warmth of service at the resort that makes it so special.
Steeped in ancient Malay tradition, the hotel bases its philosophy on the Malay concept of Sucimurni, which promotes purity of spirit, health and well-being. The Tanjong Jara Resort itself actively encourages the true renewal of both mind and body.
Dining is scenic, exquisite and informal; offering traditional Malaysian cuisine or delectable seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes. At the award-winning Spa Village guests can enjoy Malay treatments that have been passed down through the generations.
With seasonal diving and snorkelling, guests can discover teeming coral reefs off Tenggol Island in the Terengganu Marine Park, learn the secrets of cooking local cuisine or discover the natural charms of sleepy fishing villages at this tranquil hideaway.
What's more, guests can now enjoy the seasonal on-site turtle hatchery programme. In an exclusive partnership with Lang Tengah Turtle Watch, the resort offers guests a chance during the turtle nesting and hatching season to discover more about the magnificent sea turtles that grace the surrounding ocean waters, learn about the dangers they face, and the conservation efforts made to protect their hatchlings from poachers and return them to their natural habitat in the sea. This seasonal joint initiative which generally begins from March till September (depending on weather and sea conditions), will offer guests the opportunity to get involved with nest inspections by day (subject to availability), and, if fortunate, to witness a mother turtle laying their eggs or the emergence of hatchlings by night. A nest adoption programme will also be available, where guests’ pledges will save a nest from poachers preventing them from being sold as food at the marketplace.
Please note: The Ministry of Health has issued a new No Smoking Policy under the Control of Tobacco Product Regulations 2018.
