Dominican Republic Wedding Legal Requirements
The minimum age is 18 years.
Bride and Groom must be in the country 3 business days prior to the wedding.
Documents Required for Weddings in the Dominican Republic
- Valid UK passport with 6 months validity on your return home
- Original birth certificate with names of your parents.
- If you were adopted, the original copy of your adoption certificate.
- Declaration of Single Status.
- If you have been divorced, you will need to submit original of your decree absolute. In the Dominican Republic there is a mandatory waiting period for women of 10 months before they can legally remarry.
- If you have been widowed, you will need to supply the original copy of your partner’s death certificat
- If you have changed your name the original copy of the deed poll proof of name change will be required.
Before you travel
All documents, except for passport, must be legalised by the FCO. Once this has been completed we recommend using the services of ‘WE DO TRANSLATION’ who will translate all the documents into Spanish, endorse them with the Domincan Embassy and send them to the resort. Documents must be sent to them 12 weeks before the wedding.
