Private Villas at LUX* Belle Mare, Mauritius

Among the blockbuster scenery, castaway beaches and sizzling local seafood, Mauritius is perhaps best known for its arts and culture. Painters flock here to capture the vibrant colours of its beach-and-jungle landscapes, and since Mark Twain described the island as a blueprint for heaven, the story of its literature has unfolded too. For its beautiful private villa accommodations, LUX* Belle Mare has moulded this writerly tradition into the aesthetic of each unique space. The Kelibe Keliba villa category beguiles residents with its alluring African aesthetic as told by Mauritian author Marcel Cabon. The Aspara category is all about secluded indulgence, and is named after poems by Raymonde de Kervern that celebrate Mauritius’s natural beauty.

Villa Inclusions at LUX* Belle Mare

Each LUX* Belle Mare Villa is offered with dedicated private butler service and lagoon-facing personal plunge pools. This combination of world-class service and upscale facilities creates a singularly luxurious atmosphere, and ensures guests don’t have to lift a finger while enjoying the amenities. Rustic settings, matched by the exterior décor’s thatched porticos and eclectic tiled surfaces, complete the seductive ambience of the LUX* Belle Mare private villas.

Please note: Gentlemen are advised to wear long trousers and closed shoes for dinner, in keeping with the universal dress code for hotels in Mauritius.

Food & Drink

Amari by Vineet

For a dash of oriental spice, head to Amari by Vineet, the resort’s new Indian restaurant - a clean-lined but opulent space for the Michelin-star chef’s scintillating fare. A leading light in the reinvention of Indian cuisine, Chef Vineet Bhatia won his first Michelin star at Zakia in London in 2001, followed by another in 2009 for inspirational cuisine at Rasoi by Vineet in Geneva. His masterful technique makes the textures and flavours of India shine, in sumptuous, subtly spiced dishes with contemporary flair.

Beach Rouge

Occupying a prime spot right on the sands, Beach Rouge is open for lunch and dinner. There’s a hint of French Riviera in the airy white-and-red decor. In the lounge area, cocktails and tapas make for lazy days and cool evenings by the Indian Ocean: flop down on cushions on the beach to the upbeat sound of top DJs. Local, fresh-from-the-sea produce shines in the kitchen, where chefs whip up tantalising feasts of the island’s best seasonal fare.

Café LUX

Enjoy signature coffees roasted in-house (7am to 10pm).

Duck Laundry

Heading further east, Duck Laundry is the place for contemporary-style Chinese dishes, featuring duck in its many guises including crowd-pleasing Peking duck with steamed pancakes. Dim sum, on-the-spot noodle stations, a wood-fired duck oven and a Chinese barbecue station complete the experience, crowned by a varied selection of Chinese teas and Asian spirits.

K-Bar

Lounge with a relaxed ambience. The place to be for refreshing Craft beers. (10:30am to midnight).

Mari Kontam

A cabana-style Mauritian rum corner (10:30am to midnight).

MIXE

With views of the glittering ocean and expansive swimming pool, MIXE dishes up a tempting all-day menu of island specialties, from a fresh sprawling breakfast buffet to round-the-world gastronomic dinners. It’s a spectacular spot: there’s a Josper-style grill, live cooking stations, an Asian Corner, a Spicy Curry Corner, a glass tandoor, a saj oven for oriental bread-making and a Japanese teppanyaki area. Sweet things also get a starring role, with a chocolate room where guests can watch and participate in cooking sessions, a glass oven for viennoiseries and a lavish display of pastries and desserts.
