Sunrise Attitude Hotel

4* out of 5 stars

Nestled in tropical greenery and backed by farmland, Sunrise Attitude is situated just across the road from Belle Mare Beach on Mauritius' east coast. This white-sand beach is considered to be one of the most beautiful on the island and it's mere moments from the contemporary, adults-only resort.

The interiors of the 145 rooms and 8 villas are a perfect complement to Sunrise Attitude's surroundings. Fresh whitewashed walls bring to mind the immaculate white beach and natural materials such as rattan and wood complete the authentic, laid-back vibe. A collection of swim-up rooms makes slipping into the pool as easy as can be, with villas boasting private outdoor space with a plunge pool.

Continuing the light, natural theme are the four dining venues and four bars. Locally sourced produce is top of the menu at Sunrise Attitude, with a focus on healthy, nutritious food. Buffet dining is available in the main restaurant, along with a regular al à carte menu and dinners inspired by Mauritian, Italian and Indian cuisines. Other foods on offer include Mauritian street food, tapas and plenty of vegan options. An eco-conscious resort, Sunrise Attitude prides itself on its zero-single-plastic-use policy and

When guests aren't sitting down to delicious food and drink, time will be spent in the two swimming pools, the serene Spa POZ, the gym, or unwinding with some yoga or board games.

Things to do at Sunrise Attitude

With its no-TV concept, Sunrise Attitude encourages guests to switch off and relax. It's a true escape from it all. Helping with that mission is the spa with its range of pampering treatments and therapies.

With Belle Mare Beach just a short walk from the resort, spending days enjoying the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean is a must. Snorkelling is particularly popular. The resort also arranges excursions such as glass-bottom boat trips on the lagoon.

Other ways to enjoy Sunrise Attitude include trying Creole language lessons and cooking classes. Live music and dance performances are also on offer in the evenings.

The island's capital, Port Louis, is around an hour away – as is Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.

Please note: Gentlemen are advised to wear long trousers and closed shoes for dinner, in keeping with the universal dress code for hotels in Mauritius. However, smart shorts are permitted.
