Things to Do in Marrakech

A must do when you’re in Marrakech is a trip to the great square of Jemaa el Fna. This Unesco Heritage Site is the real heartbeat of the city and when the sun goes down it really comes to life. Take a walk around the square and you are likely to bump into storytellers, fortunetellers, acrobats and dancers all contributing to this truly unique atmosphere.

For a complete contrast and something a little more peaceful, a trip to the Menara gardens won’t disappoint. With a 14th century pavilion surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens and trees reflecting in the glistening lake, it’s the perfect place to unwind. Like the old square, these gardens also take on a new dimension when the sun goes down; aglow with gold and silvers it really will feel like you are in a wonderland.

Take a trip through the many Souks and Medinas to experience the best arts and crafts that Morocco has to offer. You’ll see the rich craftsmanship and expertise that the maalem (master craftsmen) have learned through generations of family tradition to present you with some of the finest items of pottery, carpets and leather goods in a unique and lively atmosphere.

Weather

The weather in Marrakech is sunny nearly all year round, with hotter summers and milder winters. The hottest months are usually between July and September. Winter can have some heavy downpours of rain and the nights can feel a little cool but the temperatures don’t normally drop below 12 C.
