Helpful Tips to Know Before You Go
- Plan excursions on land in advance. Some experiences and outings are extremely popular, and may not be available except via advance booking. If there are things you're especially excited to do, be sure to look them up ahead of time to see what needs booking.
- Prepare for the climate. Depending on when you're cruising, the weather may be cooler or warmer, but if you're going in the hotter months, you'll want to come well-provisioned. Reef-safe suncream and cool clothing are must-haves to protect yourself from sunburn. Nights can get chilly, so shawls or jackets are recommended.
- Most places you go on your Caribbean cruise will accept US$. Be sure to bring cash for excursions and tipping.
- Some of the best activities and excursions on your Caribbean cruise will involve the water. Make sure to pack appropriate swimwear for whatever you're excited to try.
Things to Do
- Explore the underwater world. From snorkelling to scuba diving, the Caribbean is famous for its rich marine life and gorgeous undersea sights. All ports of call will have something incredible to discover, so check out a snorkelling tour or take advantage of local dive sites.
- Take unforgettable day trips and excursions onto the water. From the islands you call at, smaller boats and vessels will be available with a wide range of local wonders to show you. Fishing trips, visits to local sanctuaries or sights, animal-spotting excursions... you name it, the Caribbean will provide it.
- Discover inland attractions at every port. From the rich music and culture of Jamaica to the lively Barbadian atmosphere, each Caribbean island on your itinerary has something utterly unique to experience.
- Visit iconic local sites. There are UNESCO World Heritage sites dotted everywhere across your itinerary, and when you make port near them, it would be a shame not to see them for yourself. Local museums, historic sites, monuments, gardens... no matter where your interests lie, you're sure to find something amazing.
- Sample local cuisine. Many Caribbean islands have iconic local culinary traditions, and those you'll be visiting are no exception. Taste world-famous Jamaican specialities like jerk chicken and ackee and saltfish, savour fresh seafood at every port, and discover all the rich flavours that the Caribbean has to offer.
