Belmond La Residencia

5* out of 5 stars

The verdant mountains of north west Mallorca serve as an idyllic backdrop for Belmond La Residencia, one of the finest boutique retreats in all of Spain. The resort encompasses two rustic manor houses surrounded by leafy gardens that are used for myriad events and festivities during the summer months.

Belmond La Residencia rejects the 'one size fits all' agenda and as such each room has been individually designed and styled. Traditional beamed ceilings are juxtaposed by contemporary artworks, the four poster beds meanwhile are perfect for retiring to after a day of indulgence. Each room is fitted with an iHome system so you can sync your personal devices to the sound system and there is also a cable television. Step outside to find a furnished patio that shows off extensive views of the surrounding area.

Eating is major part of Spanish culture and is certainly well celebrated at Belmond La Redidencia. The passionate, talented staff at El Olivo will guide you on a sumptuous culinary journey through an à la carte menu that includes seafood sourced from the local fisherman's market and fine cuts of Angus beef. At Café Miró they create dishes that are as colourful as the great man's work (although thankfully easier to deconstruct) such as sautéed scallop wrapped in belly pork. Running along side the hotel's main swimming pool is the Pool Restaurant where you can pick up Mediterranean delicacies after taking an afternoon dip.

Many who stay at Belmond La Residencia take time to visit Pancho, Luna and Alba, the hotel's resident donkeys who will take you on a charming trek through the olive groves before you settle down to enjoy a picnic. Other activities can be arranged by the hotel including helicopter tours, boat excursions and treks into the fascinating mountains. La Residencia Spa should be high on the priority list of any visitor to the hotel and is home to an array of treatments delivered by highly trained, specialised therapists.

Please note: The Balearic Islands Government charges holidaymakers a €4,00 tax per person per day, payable locally at the resort.
