  • Day 1
    Johannesburg, South Africa

    Arrive at Johannesburg and transfer to your hotel for 1 night Accommodation. Enjoy the rest of the day and night at your leisure. 

  • Day 2
    Pretoria, South Africa

    After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Pretoria Station to board The Blue Train. 

    Synonymous with the ultimate in luxury rail travel, The Blue Train has carried kings, presidents and discerning guests through the breathtaking beauty of the South African countryside since 1946. The luxurious suites are elegantly furnished, their en suite bathrooms tiled in marble and finished with gold fittings. 

  • Day 3
    Kimberly, South Africa

    On arrival at Kimberley Station, enjoy your excursion to the Kimberley Open Mine Museum. Here you'll enjoy a tour of the mine and the chance to peer over the edge of the famous Big Hole – a vast open-pit diamond mine thought to be one of the largest ever dug by hand.

    At the tour's end, you'll return to the station to be greeted with a glass of sherry, engraved with the Blue Train logo; it's yours to keep as a memento of your visit. 

    Then, as night falls, you'll settle down to a wine-paired gourmet dinner as you continue your southbound journey to Cape Town. 

  • Day 4
    Cape Town, South Africa

    Wake to a delicious breakfast and views of South Africa from your butler-served suite before taking afternoon tea in the Lounge Cart. 

    This evening, arrive at Cape Town Station where you'll be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to explore

  • Day 5
    Cape Town, South Africa

    Following an early breakfast at your hotel, depart on a 2.5-hour road transfer to Aquila Game Reserve or similar. Enjoy a welcome drink on arrival, followed by a 4 x 4 game drive, with an experienced nature guide. Thereafter, sit down to a delicious buffet lunch including two local beverages. After some free time to browse through the well-stocked curio shop, depart for a return transfer to Cape Town.

    The remainder of the day will be at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

  • Day 6
    Cape Town

    Spend today at leisure, exploring the beautiful ‘Mother City’ at your own pace. Consider a ferry trip to Robben Island (individually made pre-bookings are essential via the Robben Island Ferry website), an open Red Top bus trip to numerous destinations, a hike up Lion’s Head, Wine tasting in the Winelands, or simply visiting numerous attractive beaches such as Camps Bay, Blouberg Beach or similar.

    Make sure you are hungry for dinner as this evening you will join the group again for an African themed Farewell Dinner at GOLD Restaurant which includes an immersive 14-dish “taste-safari” and optional inter-active drumming. The tasting menu is designed to be enjoyed in a shared style and throughout the meal you will be learn about the country of origin, cooking techniques and spicing of each dish. (All meat, poultry and fish dishes come with vegan or vegetarian options). No doubt you will be swept up in the excitement as African stories are told through live entertainment while you dine including singing, puppetry and dancing to the beat of the djembe drums.

    Following this lively dinner experience, you will be returned to your hotel.

  • Day 7
    Cape Town

    After breakfast at your hotel and check-out formalities, embark on a half day tour of the city before transferring to the port for embarkation.

    Begin with a visit to Table Mountain, the city’s most celebrated landmark! Travel up Kloof Nek, the saddle between Table Mountain and Lions Head, to the lower cableway station. Ascend from the Valley Station (363 m) to the Mountain Station (1 060 m) in a Swiss engineered Rotair cable car. The journey from the base to the summit takes just under 4 minutes and one can enjoy spectacular views, as the floor of the car rotates 360 degrees during the ascent and descent.

     Upon descent, re-board your vehicle and transfer to the port via a brief city orientation tour of Cape Town passing through Adderley Street and along the Foreshore.

    Note: the cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain is weather dependent. If not possible due to high winds a stop will be made at a viewing area near the cable car base for photos.

    Walvis Bay, Namibia

    Unspoiled Walvis Bay, a natural lagoon and the only deep-sea harbor on the Namibian coast, offers something for everyone, with spectacular bird-watching being a keynote, as thousands of migrating species make their way here annually to join the local flamingoes and pelicans. “Dune 7,” at the outskirts of town, towers over the scenic bay, and offers excellent photo ops. The city is also a good starting point for a number of exciting day trips into the timeless beauty of the desert region, including off-road explorations, or fly-over dolphin and whale sighting.

    Durban, South Africa

    Durban delights with its colourful mosaic of ethnic neighbourhoods and memorable excursions to game reserves and the traditional lifestyle of the Zulu people. Explore Old Market Square, the Golden Mile beachfront and the scented Botanic Gardens and Gray Street Mosque, the largest in the southern hemisphere. Enjoy a relaxing evening gondola ride along an urban canal on luxurious Durban Point then drive the Golden Mile beachfront at night when the city is wonderfully illuminated.

    Maputo, Mozambique

    Discover the relaxed charm of Maputo with its wide, European style boulevards, lush with jacaranda, bougainvillea and other tropical foliage, where old colonial palaces are mixed in with modern high-rise buildings. Visit The Cathedral built in 1944 in the shape of a cross, then the lively Mercado Central. Stop by the National Museum of Art then stroll along the Avenida Julius Nyerere, browsing the boutiques, vendors, and restaurants. Look for African waxprint and woven fabrics, beautiful wooden boxes and picture frames. Seek out the surreal Pancho Guedes buildings, reminiscent of Gaudi. Visit the Praça de Trabalhadores designed by Gustave Eiffel in the late 19th century. Sip coffee in one of the many outdoor cafés as you watch the world go by in this vibrant seaside capital.

    Richard's Bay, South Africa

    Richards Bay is one of South Africa’s largest harbours, and is the tourist’s gateway to Zululand, once the mightiest of the sub-Saharan African Kingdoms. Richards Bay began its life as a makeshift harbour, set up by Sir Fredererick Richards, after whom it is named, during the Anglo-Boer War of 1880-81. Richards Bay has some of the most spectacular wetland scenery and pristine beaches on the north coast of KwaZulu Natal. Join us as we explore the land of King Shaka, or embark on an unforgettable safari to Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve.
