In the city’s oldest neighbourhood of Gamle Stavanger 18th Century wooden buildings still dominate the streets, while the Canning Museum (Norsk Hermetikkmuseum) and Stavanger Museum offer an enriching glimpse into Stavanger’s maritime history. Those seeking a postcard-worthy view should aim for The Guards’ Museum in Valbergtårnet (Valberg Tower) - the highest point in Gamle Stavanger - and if you’re a fan of Gothic architecture the exquisite craftsmanship of The Anglo-Norman Stavanger Cathedral will no doubt delight.

  • Day 4
    Alesund, Norway

Arriving in Alesund, you could be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped off your ship into the pages of a fairy-tale. A myriad of towering spires and decorative turrets, it’s easy to see why this vibrant fishing port is regarded as one of the prettiest cities in Norway. A scenic gem – wherever you see it from! Wander between buildings adorned with turrets, showy spires and carved dragonheads. Or climb to Kniven for sweeping views of the town, skerries and mountains. Spectacular!

  • Day 5
    Olden, Norway

When you reluctantly depart from this peaceful village of the picturesque Nordfjord, you'll no doubt have some breathtaking and unforgettable scenes etched into your memory, and your camera roll too. Giant waterfalls cascade the mountains, mineral-rich Lake Lovatn glints with a milky turquoise sheen and the Kjenndalen Glacier reveals a green-tinged glow. With everything from kayaking, fishing, glacier treks, skiing, snowshoeing, and mountain hikes to authentic Norwegian dining and cultural experiences available, there is plenty to keep you entertained.
